What we cover

Durango Reviews is a travel guide to Mexico. Our home region is the state of Durango in the north of the country, and we cover destinations across Mexico from there.

We review places and write guides to destinations, food, places to stay and the outdoors. Venue reviews name the reviewer and say when they visited; guides say how they were researched.

Entry, safety and access information comes from official sources such as Mexico's immigration and tourism authorities, protected-area managers and government travel advisories, and we say where every fact comes from. Businesses cannot pay for a review or a place in a guide.

How we work

Our stories start from primary sources, and every one names and links them. Before publication, every story is checked against those sources in a separate fact-check. Our editorial standards explain how we work, including our use of AI tools; our review method explains how reviews are done.

Bylines and desks

Stories carry the name of the person who wrote them or of the Durango Reviews desk that produced them. A desk byline means our team produced the story for that section, in the way our editorial standards describe.

Ownership and funding

Durango Reviews is funded by advertising and sponsorship. Paid content is always labelled, and advertisers have no say over our editorial content. How advertising works.
